June 2015 UCIP News and Updates
The second quarter of 2015 saw another major project added to the University Controlled Insurance Program (UCIP), this time at the UCLA campus. The Engineering VI – Phase 2 project kicked off in late May with operations ramping up in June.
Engineering VI – Phase 2 will become a new $55 million (estimated) 6-level research laboratory facility designed to accommodate information science and computer research programs for the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (HSSEAS). This building will also house the UCLA Department of Computer Science. The space will be designed to provide a collaborate environment to foster the development of new technologies, inventions, and other avenues to support the commercial industry with computation research. This project is expected to complete in the winter of 2017.
By enrolling in the UCIP, this project is anticipated to avoid insurance costs of $198,000 – $1,292,500 (estimate).
