March 2015 UCIP News and Updates
The first quarter of 2015 has seen a lot of activity in the UCIP Program. All of this activity has occurred simultaneously with the move of the Construction Insurance Programs broker from Aon to Willis 1/1/15.
Completed projects that have wrapped up at the end of 2014 and first quarter 2015 include UCD Tercero Student Housing Phase 3 and Vet Med Bldg. 3; UCR GlenMor and Student Rec Center; UCLA Landfair, Wasserman TI and CHS South Tower Seismic Renovation Core & Shell; UCSF Mission Bay Block 25A and UCI Business School 2. These projects are in various phases of closing out and documenting the final costs and savings, expected at over $5 million.
New projects that started in the latter part of 2014 and first quarter 2015 are UCI UNEX Classroom Building, UCSB San Joaquin Apartments and BioEngineering Building, UCLA Jules Stein Seismic Corrections and UCD Tercero Student Housing Phase 4. Utilizing UCIP for these projects brings potential savings of over $3 million.
The program, after 5 years, has added 38 projects totaling over $2.5 billion in contract value, for all ten campuses. The program continues strong as it provides an excellent risk management tool for bringing broad insurance coverage to the construction projects, in addition to the savings.
